Breakthrough Therapy Center’s Founder& Director has been a practicing Speech-Language Pathologist in Broward County, FL for almost three decades; and for the vast majority, in her current “Davie Autism Center”.  Thankfully, Bloom’s mentor Valerie Herskowitz (FLASHA President)  built-out Breakthrough Therapy Service’s current location prior to Bloom’s purchasing the building in an effort to contribute to Valerie’s next mission–more time for the needs of her young adult autistic son & others like him.  Kimberly Bloom is committed to her staff, her profession, her patients, their families, and our community.  Bloom continues to grow and explore new and alternative therapies.  She and her assistant director are PROMPT Trained; especially helpful in the treatment of Apraxia of Speech.

 

Ilia Rivera, MS, CCC-SLP, PROMPT

Ilia Rivera is the “Assistant Director of Speech and Language Therapy Services” at our Davie Location on Griffin & Flamingo Roads in the ‘back’ of the Crexcent Business Center. Ilia is dedicated to this practice and its patients.  Ms. Rivera works directly with Founder/Director, Kimberly Bloom, seeking out talented therapists, grooming and educating staff, and in identifying potential new breakthrough treatments.   Ilia Rivera is a “key component or ingredient in our Family Speech & OT Practice,” Bloom proudly recognizes.   Rivera, specializing in the diagnosis/evaluation and treatment of childhood, verbal Apraxia– Commonly referred to as CAS or Childhood of Apraxia Speech, now leads Breakthrough’s PROMPT Therapy Department. “Thankfully, Kimberly challenges us and urges us to find areas that we desire to excel, then arms us with the tools to learn more and sees that we use it to help our kids.”

Krista Hadeed is a graduate of the University of Florida, earning her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Linguistics with a Minor in Teaching English as a Second Language. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University with her Master’s of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology with high honors in 2015. Krista is certified through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and has presented at both ASHA and FLASHA (Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists & Audiologists) conventions. Krista specializes in Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) and is PROMPT trained. She has a passion for early intervention and transitional skills therapy.

 

 

Allison Fairbrother, MS, CCC-SLP

Allison Fairbrother is a proud Florida Seminole Graduate; earning her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Communications. In 2013, she graduated Nova  Southeastern University with her a Master’s of Science Degree in Speech- Language Pathology.  Like Kimberly Bloom and Ilia Rivera, she is certified through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and attends training annually to stay active and up to date on advances in speech, language, and alternative therapies. Fairbrother is comfortable in both the private practice and school-based clinician settings. As such, Allison provides intervention and treatment in schools by day and dedicates her afternoons and evenings to working in the clinic!

 


Ariel Alvarez, MS, CCC-SLP

Ariel recently earned her Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Florida International University (August 2016) and has a Bachelor’s degree in the area of Special Education. Ariel specializes in the use of Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) to help nonverbal clients expand their communicative abilities. She has enjoyed working in both the school /private setting and has gained experience working with both children and adolescents. Ariel has a passion for helping children to communicate and pushing them to break down all barriers in their way. She hopes to help everyone of her clients find their “voice”.

 

 

 

 

Danielle Shabin, SLP-A

Danielle Shabin is a graduate from The State University of New York at New Paltz with a Bachelor degree in Communication Disorders. She has previously worked as a behavioral specialist with adults on the Autism spectrum and as a teaching assistant in an Early Intervention classroom. She is in the process of obtaining her Masters in Speech-Language Pathology at Nova Southeastern University while working as an SLP-A at Breakthrough Therapy Services. She is looking forward to getting more involved in the South Florida speech community!

 


Nicole Belliveau, MS, CCC-SLP

Nicole has been part of our Breakthrough family for nearly 5 years!  Nicole graduated from Florida International University in April 2011, with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a  minor in International Relations. Shortly after, she acquired her Masters in Speech Language Pathology and has found her heart and her patience perfectly matched for a career in helping children and teens on and off the spectrum.

Ashley recently graduated from Florida International University (August 2015) with a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders. While at FIU, Ashley interned with Breakthrough Therapy for three semesters and has worked closely with many of the kids at Breakthrough. Ashley has a heart for children and specializes in pediatric therapy. Ashley is caring, patient, yet demanding with her clients and strives for results to help her clients grow daily.

Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant

Sara received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and
Disorders from the University of Central Florida in May of 2013. She
became a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant with the state
of Florida and started working at Breakthrough Therapy Services in
2015. She is currently attending Nova Southeastern University in order
to obtain her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She has
also worked for Publix Supermarkets since 2008, where she learned the
value of handwork and dedication in a work setting, and will continue
to work there until her degree is complete.
